Administrative Guide to the Bereaved

Book a Call to Get Your Questions Answered

</aside>

You’ve just lost your loved one and the questions, calls, cards, and flowers keep coming.

The funeral needs to be publicized - “How much is a newspaper announcement anyways? Do people even read the newspaper? Wait, we need to write an obituary, am I the one who’s writing it?”

Their phone keeps getting notifications - “Did they ever clear out their email inbox? Are any of these paid subscriptions? What even is this company?”

Paperwork, paperwork, paperwork - “Was this bill on auto-pay? What’s the account password? Where is the car title? I know you wrote a will, where is it? Who was the lawyer?”

Was that list overwhelming?

It was for me and my family, but it all needs an answer.

In the moment we are most confused and lost, everyone wants an answer and proof or documentation. Even the most well-prepared individuals and families find out there is still one more thing that can only be done after your loved one has passed.

My goal is to help you and your loved ones focus on having a peaceful mourning.

I provide the relief of taking on the mental load and corporate executive functions required to move from the shock of losing someone to putting your day-to-day life back in order as you work with lawyers and financial institutions to move to probate and settle estates.

Everyone loses someone, why would I need help?

That’s fair, I had to do it without help. Well, without official help. It was awful; so awful that I started a business to take that burden off of other grieving families.

Everyone needs to clean their home, but some people hire cleaners for more hands, more experience, or to not have to deal with the task. It is that same support I provide for my clients in this new and not very fun experience.

What is JCD?

J&C Deiseil LLC (JCD) is the legal entity I do business under in the State of Florida

How do you pronounce it?

J (Jay) & (and) C ( See) Deiseil (Jay-sh-hull)

That’s hard to say. What is it?

It is Americanized writing of Old Scottish Gaelic for Dèan sìth Deiseil

Dèan sìth (pronounced: jayn (Jay an) shee) - "Dèan" means "make" or "do," and "sìth" among other things means "peace." So, "Dèan sìth" could metaphorically imply "making peace," which can also be interpreted as making ready or preparing in a broader sense.

"Deiseil" has multiple meanings in Scottish Gaelic, and one of its meanings is "ready" or "prepared." It can also mean "finished" or "complete" in certain contexts.

That’s a lot of work for a name most people can’t say.

Maybe, but my heritage is Scottish and the foundation of my work is for the benefit of families and loved ones to be able to slow down and spend this time grieving instead of worrying about deadlines or paperwork. Connecting to our roots is a good way to remember to slow down.

Death for many people also involves an element of the otherworldly. Gaelic tradition still holds many of those sentiments. Sìth can mean “peace” and it can also mean “fairy hill”. By naming my company using Scottish Gaelic I hope to provide for my clients exactly what the name implies, “making peaceful readiness”, never forgetting the goals are to let them slow down and if necessary connect with more than the material world of documents as they work through their loss.
